Colon Tea: Natures Colon Cleanser
Herbal Colon tea is used to primarily cleanse the colon. There are many versions of colon tea composed of various herbal combinations. Colon tea helps maintain good gastro-intestinal help. Colon tea works by cleansing the colon through waste elimination and proper muscle contraction. It helps rid the colon walls of accumulation that builds up through the digestion process. When the build up starts to harden into a plaque and becomes stagnant we experience ailments, discomfort and illness. The hardened substances cannot pass through the intestines creating blockages. When there are intestinal blockages we do not absorb out nutrients through the intestinal lining properly. When colon tea is drunk it removes the mucoid plaque that build up on the intestinal tract walls enabling the colon tract to run smoothly. In Traditional Chinese Medicine the Colon meridian is associated with metal and autumn. Autumn represents the aspect in nature that condenses and crystallizes. Metal gives earth its underlying structure of stone and crystal. It is the core of our emotions, primarily grief and loss. Massage, dry brushing, drinking water and a high fiber diet is implemented as therapy to balance the metal element. In TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) the spleen is the primary organ treated to aid in digestion. When one is qi deficient in the spleen area digestive problems arise. The person that is spleen deficient may feel tired bloated gassy; make experience loose bowels and pain. One may even develop hemorrhoids as a result of qi deficiency. A colon tea called Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang is given to treat the condition. When the spleen is distressed with dampness the person experiences nausea and constipation. This is caused by too much greasy food and emotional factors. The patient is given a very clean diet where dairy and sugar are believed to be the dampness culprits. An herbal colon tea called Shen Ling Bai Zhu San is given. If the spleen has excessive cold, which results in extreme pain and constipation a colon tea that serves as a laxative is given. Da Jian Zhong Tang is the tea used to treat these symptoms. The tea is adjusted to meet the severity of the patient�s symptoms. Like all of the different treatments in Traditional Chinese medicine the herbal colon tea will be adjusted to the patients specific symptoms and ailments and acupuncture is also given in conjunction with the tea. Some of the main herbs found across the board in herbal colon tea are Casagrada Sagrada or Rhamnus purshiana bark, Senna or Cassia senna leaf and Barberry or Berberis vulgaris bark. Casagrada Sagrada also known as Buckthorn is an herbal laxative. It can be used alone as an herbal colon tea or with a combination of other herbs. It is used for constipation. It primarily stimulates the large intestine. Senna leaf is a strong herbal laxative. As a colon tea it is combined with Cardamom, Ginger or Fennel. These herbs, which are considered aromatic, decrease the cramping affect of Senna leaf. Barberry, which dates back to Egypt, aids in diarrhea and upset stomachs. Colon tea is also said to reduce food intolerances, promote weight loss, improve skin appearance including cellulite, increase energy levels and help the immune system through detoxification. Most Colon teas are tisane, made with a combination of herbs. When using colon tea do not deviate from the instructions on the label.
